Zippity Doo’s ~ review and giveaway
Posted on | March 10, 2010 | No Comments

Zippity Doo’s, catchy name right? Zippity Doo’s is a line of children’s hair care product that helps prevent head lice. Around here head lice show up at school at least once a year. My kids come home talking about how the school nurse checked their heads, or even worse they bring home a letter informing us of an outbreak.
I am a total germaphobe, so the idea of my kids getting lice really freaks me out. We have been lucky enough to avoid it so far (I know, I never should have said that). The second I hear the word lice the girls have to wear a pony tail everyday and my son gets a buzz cut. But I know families that have gotten it and it’s not a pleasant experience.
Zippity Doo’s products contain natural ingredients that are mild enough for daily use and provide health benefits to the hair and scalp while helping to prevent lice infestation. They are also paraben-free!
My view on the products is a little different then my kids. The three of them did not like the smell of the shampoo and conditioner at all. One of my girls was very vocal about her dislike of the smell and may have influenced the opinions of the other two (especially my son who usually couldn’t care less). Once they were done washing and rinsing though, the smell was fine and didn’t bother them any more.
On the other hand, I like it. It smells fresh, clean and a little minty. The shampoo lathers really well and the conditioner gets out the tangles. My favorite products are the sprays: the leave-in detangler and shield spray. The leave-in detangler leaves my girls with smooth shiny hair and frankly the shield spray just makes me feel better, like I’m protecting my kids.
I can’t tell yet if it works to keep lice away, but you can be sure that at the next mention of lice at school I will be gelling and spraying my kids like crazy. I’m not sure what the price for these products will be, the frugal part of me will have a hard time buying the shampoo and conditioner if they are too expensive. I would definitely spring for the sprays though, if it prevents the aggravation & trauma (not to mention the additional cost) of getting head lice it’s well worth it.
Now the fun part – want to try Zippity Doo’s yourself? The great people at Zippity Doo’s are giving another set of the products pictured to one of my readers! Shampoo, conditioner, gel, leave-in detangler and shield spray – you get them all!
How to enter:

Sorry I did my shopping so late this week, but you still have time to run out if you want to grab a few of these deals. While I did really well and got some great deals, I know there are a few items that I could have purchased for less elsewhere. Before you yell at me for wasting money, hear me out. There is a method to my madness.
I’m trying to minimize my shopping. If I were to go to another store to pick up items I may save a dollar or two, but the truth is that I wouldn’t just stick to those few items. I would see other things we “need” or find a good deal that I can’t pass up and before you know it there goes another $30. By only going to Publix this week I stocked up on the good deals and will use some of what I bought with what I already have on hand and we will be fine.
I purchased $122.47 worth of groceries for $53.84, that’s a savings of $68.63! Here are some of the best deals I took advantage of: Read more
CVS week of 3/7 ~ 3/13
Posted on | March 9, 2010 | No Comments

I’ve been trying to limit my shopping trips and really concentrate on the best deals. This week I found them at CVS and will make one more stop to get some free Dawn today. While there are lots of great deals available these are the best ones I found:
Oral-B Cross Action Toothbrush $4.00 then get back $4.00 in EBs. There are reportedly coupons in the 2/7 & 2/21 P&G inserts, but I didn’t get them. Free or money maker after coupons & EBs. Limit 2.
Bounty Basic $5.97 then get back $1.00 in EBs. Again coupons that I didn’t get are reported to be in the 3/7 P&G. Pay between $3.97 & $4.79. Limit 1.
Charmin Basic 12 count $5.97 then get back $1.00 in EBs. Use the coupon in the 2/7 P&G insert & the Save-a-lot home mailer. After coupons & EBs pay between $3.97 & $4.97. Limit 1.
Cascade gel 2 for $5.97 then get back $1.00 wyb 2. Use two of the $1.00 off 1 coupons from the Home Made Simple mailers. After coupons & EBs you pay $2.97 for 2 or $1.49 each. Limit 1.
Pantene Shampoo, conditioner, styler 2 for $6.97 then get back $2.00 in EBs wyb 2. Use the $3.00 off 2 from the 3/7 P&G. After coupons & EBs you pay $1.97 for 2 or about $0.98 each. Limit 2.
Gilette Fusion Razor $8.99 then get back $4.00 in EBs. I used the $5.00 coupon from specially marked packages I told you to get a few weeks ago. If you weren’t able to do that deal you should still have your coupons for $4.00 from the 2/7 P&G. Free or $1.00 after coupons & EBs. Limit 1.
Nivea Lip care $2.99 then get back $2.99. There were coupons that have already expired. Free after EBs. Limit 1.
Dawn $0.97. My store includes Dawn Hand Renewal so use the $1.00 off one from the Home Made Simple mailer to get these for free.
Don’t forget to buy a green bag tag and put it on a reusable bag that you bring when you shop at CVS. Have them scan it when you check out and get $0.25 each time. Trust me, when you are a serious CVS shopper it adds up quickly.
Fraudulent Perdue coupons
Posted on | March 9, 2010 | 1 Comment

I received an interesting e-mail from Perdue about fraudulent coupons that are circulating around the Internet. I haven’t come across any of these coupons yet, but in case you have I thought you might want a heads up.
Dear Liz,
You may have recently heard about an on-line PERDUE® product coupon with an $8 or $15 value. This information has been circulating on blogs and printable coupon sites. These on-line offers are fraudulent and should not be used.
We have alerted your local grocery stores to this issue and have instructed them how to check a coupon for validity. Coupons that don’t meet the valid criteria should be refused.
From time to time we do offer product coupons through valid on-line services. A valid on-line coupon cannot be passed through email or blogs, and is restricted to a certain number of prints. Additionally, our valid on-line coupon values do not exceed $2.00.
We value your patronage as a PERDUE® consumer, and apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.
Sincerely,
