Cookie Bars

Sorry the picture didn’t come out so great, by the time I realized it was bad it was too late to take another one. These cookie bars go fast in our house. We make them once a year for Santa so they are really special. I love to share this recipe because when I was young I had something similar at a friends house. They were so delicious I asked her mom for the recipe. Her mom refused to give it to me (I think I was about 9, isn’t that mean). When I went home I told my mom everything that I remembered (I was able to glimpse a few of the ingredients as my friends mom was baking them) and we created this together. The best thing about these bars is you can easily be creative with them and add anything you like.
You will need:
Graham Crackers (1 box)
Butter (1 stick)
Chips (chocolate, white, butterscotch, peanut butter, whatever you like)
Shredded Coconut
Nuts (walnut or pecan)
1 can sweetened condensed milk (NOT EVAPORATED)
Crush 1 1/2 packs of the graham crackers until they are very fine. Take the stick of butter and melt it in an oven safe dish that is around 9×12 is size. Once the butter is melted add the graham crackers and mix thoroughly. Once all the cracker crumbs are coated press them firmly to form the crust. If the crackers are too dry add a little more butter.
Once the crust is formed add a layer of shredded coconut, then add a layer of chips followed by a layer of nuts. Like I said, be creative. You can add dried fruit, M&M’s, anything you think of. Once all your ingredients are on take the can of sweetened condensed milk and drizzle it evenly over the top. Bake at 350 degrees until the top is brown and bubbling. Let it cool, cut into bar shapes and enjoy!.
