Cutting Back – I almost forgot!

In my haste to tell you ways to cut back, I almost forgot one of the most important ones! Check your insurances and see if you can save any money there. We have done our homework with our car insurance and have the best price for what we want. I make a phone call once a year to my insurance company to see if they have any better programs.I also called them when my homeowners insurance bill came this year. It had gone up almost $300! I thought that was a lot since we haven’t had any kind of hurricanes and called to see what the deal was. After less then 5 minutes of her checking my account, she found a rather expensive error on their part.
By asking a few questions she was able to lower some other bulls*$%! fee as well. Then we upped our deductible from $1,000 to $2,500. We did that last year, but apparently they renew it at $1000 so we have to call every year to change the deductible. By the time our conversation was done, I still had the exact same coverage (except for a $1,500 higher deductible) and was paying $600 less then I was billed for. Not bad for a few minutes of my time.
