I got a Virus

A computer Virus that is. It took me all day, but I finally got it out. It took over my whole computer, including windows, and pretended to find spy-ware and different viruses on my computer and tried to get me to click scan now. But I didn’t fall for it! I just kept saying no and x-ing everything out. I tried to get my McAfee anti-virus program to run, but the virus was blocking all my applications (except the Internet porn sites that kept popping up)(let me clarify that the Internet porn sites that kept popping up were part of the virus).

After about an hour I thought it had me beat and almost gave up, but then decided to log in under the other user on my computer. When we first got our computer a few years ago I surprised my hubby by setting him up as a separate user, only he never uses it and we both just go on through the main account. I don’t know what possessed me to give it a try (divine intervention?) but I was able to switch users and run the McAfee scan from there. It took more then 4 hours, but eventually detected and removed 12 Trojans/viruses/threats.

So all is well and now I’m off to catch up on some of the deals that I may have missed today:) I just wanted to let you know about this nasty little threat. It tries to trick you into removing stuff to really get into your computer. If your computer says a virus has been detected and you need to do a scan, be sure it is your normal protection program otherwise say NO to anything that pops up. Once you let it in you will most likely need to get professional help.
